Overgrown nails can cause discomfort, which is why it is recommended to trim your pet’s nails, on average, every 3-4 weeks. Every pet is unique so ensure you monitor your own pet’s nails carefully.

Directions:

1.    Hold your pet’s paw and softly squeeze their paw pad to spread their digits, making trimming easier.
2.    Assess each nail as you trim. Trim at a 45-degree angle, taking off only small amounts at a time.
3.    Be careful not to cut too deeply. If you see a small black dot in the centre of the nail, stop trimming. This is the quick (see diagram above). Cutting the quick will expose the blood vessel and result in bleeding and pain.

Remember to take your time and stay calm during the whole process as this will help keep your pet calm. Use positive reinforcement and treats to maintain a calm and happy environment.
